State estimation and iterative strategy for nonlinear differential control in modular multilevel converters
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This paper presents an advanced nonlinear differential control methodology for modular multilevel converter (MMC) systems, integrating particle filter-based state estimation with a continuous iteration strategy to address the challenges posed by strong nonlinearities, external disturbances, and observation noise. The proposed approach leverages particle filtering to effectively manage nonlinear dynamics and non-Gaussian noise, while the continuous iteration strategy decomposes the complex nonlinear control problem into tractable linear subproblems. Theoretical analysis demonstrates the method's global convergence, robustness, and computational efficiency through Lyapunov stability theory and Barbalat's lemma. Comprehensive simulation results validate the method's effectiveness in achieving high-performance control of MMC systems under various operating conditions, particularly in high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) transmission and grid-connected renewable energy applications.
