The Role of Advanced Practice Providers in Radiation Oncology in 2025
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: As many as 60% of patients diagnosed with cancer will receive radiation therapy with curative or palliative intent (Lo et al., 2024). Radiation therapy treats cancers by damaging genetic material within a cancer cell. When the cell is damaged, it is unable to replicate and divide, stopping the spread of cancer. Radiation also passes through normal cells; however, these cells can repair themselves (American Society for Radiation Oncology, 2025).
