Sustainable lubricants formulation for sustainable lubrication: A comprehensive review including machine learning predictions

Abstract: The Sustainable Development Goals provide the impetus for the development of sustainable lubricants. The environmental policies, carbon neutrality guidelines, and sustainable lubricants play a prominent role in the development of sustainable lubrication. This work is broadly analyzed under the following categories: (i) Formulation of Sustainable Lubricants; (ii) Investigations on Sustainable Lubricants; (iii) Methods of Sustainable Lubrication; (iv) Sustainable Lubricants formulation for Sustainable Lubrication. This review highlights ML classification and regression algorithms based on sustainable lubricants (USL), Increased component lifespan (ICL) using Nanoparticles, reduced energy consumption (REC) using Nanoparticles and MQL, and minimising environmental impact (MEI) using MQL. The formulation of Sustainable Lubricants needs to be aligned with Sustainable Lubrication.
