Letter to the editor regarding “Symptoms indicative of early knee osteoarthritis after ACL reconstruction: Descriptive analysis of the SHIELD cohort”

Abstract: We read with interest the recent article by Cronström et al. [1] providing important data on early osteoarthritis (OA) symptom burden one and three years after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR), a topic of growing relevance for both clinical care and OA prevention. We commend the authors for their rigorous methodology, clear reporting, and thoughtful comparison of multiple definitions of early OA symptoms. We also share their goal of refining classification criteria that accurately capture the early stages of OA in patients recovering from knee injury and surgery [2,3].
