Abstract: The novel Bis ligand namely, Sodium 4-((5-chloro-2-hydroxybenzylidene) amino)-2-hydroxy benzoate (SCAB) was prepared by condensation of anti T. B. drug, Sodium-4-amino salicylate and 5-chloro salicyladehyde. It was known as Schiff base and the coordination polymers based on this SCAB with transition metal ions viz; Cu2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Mn2+ and Zn2+ were prepared. The SCAB ligand and its coordination polymers were characterized by elemental content, spectral studies, metal: ligand (M:L) ratio, magnetic properties and thermogravimetry. All the coordination polymers are insoluble in acetone, ethanol, chloroform, methanol, benzene, DMF and DMSO. The SCAB ligand and its coordination polymers also were monitored for antimicrobial activity.
