Examining the ‘Contextual Intelligence’ in Chinese Leadership’s Strategic Behaviour towards Nepal
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The present paper assesses China’s strategic behaviour towards Nepal following the end of (Nepal’s) civil war in 2006, focusing on safeguarding security, advancing development projects, and expanding its political and social influence. Using the concept of ‘contextual intelligence,’ the paper examines how Chinese leadership has adapted its strategic behaviour in response to Nepal’s shifting political contexts to create a favourable environment for its interests. Drawing on both primary and secondary sources, the paper argues that Chinese political leadership has strategically leveraged contexts to promote its interests in Nepal.
