Abstract: Cyclic peptides represent a unique class of biomolecules characterized by enhanced structural rigidity, metabolic stability, and target specificity compared to their linear counterparts. This review explores the fundamental aspects of cyclic peptide structure and synthesis, highlighting the diverse cyclization mechanisms. We examine their functional roles across natural and synthetic systems. Particular attention is given to their emerging therapeutic applications, including the use as antimicrobial, anticancer, and immunomodulatory agents. By integrating recent advances in peptide engineering and drug design, this article underscores the expanding potential of cyclic peptides as versatile platforms for next-generation therapeutics.
