Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This article shows an investigation results that explores social representations about the erotic-affective relationships among university students, analyzing how cultural, social, and technological factors shape these dynamics and their effects on psychological well-being. A phenomenological-interpretative qualitative approach was employed with a population aged from 19 to 23 from a private university in the city of Medellín, who shared their experiences through interviews and focus groups. The findings reveal that the characteristics of their relationships, based on factors such as age, university context, relationship type, and the erotic-affective dimension creates practices and discourses related to social representations such as communication, respect, trust, and love. These social representations impact their mental health and underscore the importance of fostering healthy relationships.
