Effective Power Sharing and Improved Droop Control in a Hybrid Grid with V2G/G2V

Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: These days, the growing interest in electric vehicles (EVs) and renewable energy has made it essential for hybrid power networks to handle complex power flows while ensuring stability. This research looks into a hybrid microgrid that merges Grid-to-Vehicle and Vehicle-to-Grid functionalities along with droop control for improved performance and load management. The microgrid features an AC/DC setup designed for residential purposes and incorporates a DC grid specifically for charging and discharging EVs directly. In an AC grid, droop control is responsible for tweaking frequency and voltage based on changes in demand. In contrast, a DC grid utilizes a virtual inertia voltage restoration loop to handle voltage levels and distribute power effectively. There are important topics being discussed, such as how buses respond, the role of ILC converters, and how the system reacts during transient events. The overall effectiveness of the system is showcased through MATLAB simulation code (Live Script), which illustrates enhancements in load management, power distribution, and robust responses during transient conditions. The hybrid grid improves the management of voltage and frequency by facilitating V2G and G2V interactions, which helps keep the system balanced and stable.
