Amine-based microcapsules for recyclable CO2 capture with high-capacity and stability
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: ABSTRACT The capture, utilization, and storage of carbon (CCUS) has always been a worldwide concern. Amine-based CO 2 capture is the most common method, but there are still some drawbacks in this method, such as corrosivity, evaporative losses, and fouling. In this work, microencapsulation technology based on interfacial polymerization was used to prepare 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol microcapsule (AM) and diethylene glycol amine microcapsule (DM) as the adsorbent. The range of particle size is 200-350 μm and 10-20 μm. Additionally, the microcapsules exhibit thermal stability, with decomposition temperatures of 215°C and 250°C. The CO 2 adsorption capacity of these microcapsules is 0.97 mmol/g and 3.46 mmol/g, respectively. This excellent adsorption efficiency can not only recycle up to 60 times but also has an CO 2 adsorption capacity at -30°C.
