Investigating Groundwater Quality and Correlation analysis of Groundwater in Jaipur, Rajasthan
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: A study focused on assessing the groundwater quality in Jaipur City (Rajasthan-India), which has been impacted by rapid urbanization and industrialization. The study highlights the degradation of groundwater quality and involves the collection of ten groundwater samples (W1, W2, W3, W4, W5 W6, W7, W8, W9 & W10) from different locations of Jaipur. These ground water samples were collected from various bore wells and hand pumps during the monsoon period (June –September 2024). The study measures a variety of important water quality parameters, both chemical (ions - Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, CO32-, HCO3-, Cl-, F-, NO3- and SO42-) and physical parameters (such as pH, EC and TDS). The correlations between various groundwater quality parameters can offer valuable insights into both the sources of contamination and the broader human activities that influence groundwater chemistry. To evaluate ground water samples for irrigation and other purposes, irrigation water quality indices like SAR, RSC, SSP, PI were also determined.
