QCM biosensor for label free detection and quantification of fibrinogen
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study presents the development and validation of a label-free piezoelectric biosensor based on quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) technology for the detection of fibrinogen, a key biomarker in coagulation and inflammation. The biosensor employs Fab fragments of anti-fibrinogen antibodies immobilized on a gold-coated quartz crystal to achieve high specificity and sensitivity. The sensor demonstrated a limit of detection of 0.075 g/L and showed strong correlation with ELISA results (r² = 0.983), confirming its analytical reliability. Interference testing with common plasma proteins revealed minimal cross-reactivity, and validation with real human plasma samples confirmed its clinical applicability. This QCM biosensor offers a rapid, reagent-free, and portable platform suitable for point-of-care diagnostics.
