Abstract: Tomato Late Blight (TLB) severity must be determined quickly and precisely in order to effectively control the disease and make the most use of fungicides.TLB, caused by Phytophthora infestans, is a highly destructive disease that affects Tomatoes.Current methods using the Late Blight Key (LBK) often result in errors due to the difficulty in making consistent visual assessments, leading to excessive chemical use and high management costs. This research in 2024 at Umerkot aimed to develop a simple, accessible method that uses mobile phones to measure TLB severity.A mobile phone was used to take pictures of the afflicted Tomato leaves, and the LBK was used to visually assess the disease's severity. The images were processed using software to calculate the ratio of affected leaf area (lesion) to healthy leaf area based on pixel counts. The study found a strong correlation (R² = 98.95%) between the image-based measurements and the visual LBK scores. This suggests that using mobile phones can provide farmers with an effective, low-cost tool for assessing TLB severity and improving disease management in the Tomato fields of Sindh.
