Abstract: This essay seeks to highlight the constitutive aspects of conservative political thought. Through bibliographical research, a discussion is made around some of the most important themes of political conservatism, highlighting, especially, its theoretical assumptions and the contributions of some of the most prominent authors of this current in the 20th century. By way of conclusion, the defining characteristics of this ideology are emphasized, at which time its similarities and divergences with other currents are discussed.
