Abstract: Lemierre’s syndrome is an uncommon yet serious condition that can be life-threatening. It is characterized by the dissemination of infection from the oropharyngeal region, which subsequently progresses to a severe internal jugular vein (IJV) infection, leading to thrombosis and septic embolism. Although the incidence of this syndrome has declined significantly due to the unrestricted use of antibiotics for treating streptococcal throat infections, it should still be considered in individuals with prolonged sore throats, lateral neck pain, and signs of sepsis. We report the case of a man in his 50s who arrived at the hospital with respiratory distress and left-sided neck swelling. Further evaluation revealed septic thrombophlebitis of the left IJV.
