Abstract: In the contemporary world, society develops its activities at a dizzying pace, supported by various instruments that allow for the agile execution of a variety of processes in line with the dynamism of the 21st century; among these are those corresponding to education at its different levels. In recent years, we have observed the massive presence of technological devices and gadgets to which children have access at much earlier ages than previous generations, as a means of entertainment or use within school activities, motivated by the development of virtual classes, even more so since the global COVID pandemic in 2020. One of the aspects that attracts the most interest is knowing whether prolonged exposure to or use of these devices will have detrimental effects on child development, attention, and concentration, and could cause various types of impacts such as cognitive, social, and physical problems. This article aims to conduct a literature review and analyze the various authors who have addressed the topic of technological device use and the effects they can have on 4- and 5-year-old children.
