Abstract: Population aging is a universal phenomenon, with its implications reaching all corners of the globe. In Ghana, the growing population of older adults highlights the need for a robust and inclusive approach to social work that addresses their unique challenges. This paper explores the critical role of social workers in enhancing the lives of the elderly within the context of evolving family structures, limited resources, and systemic challenges. It examines traditional family support systems, geriatric social work, and global perspectives on elderly care, identifying lessons Ghana can adopt. The paper also discusses the challenges faced by social workers, including resource constraints, inadequate training, and systemic inefficiencies, and provides a comprehensive way forward. Emphasizing policy reforms, education, community engagement, technological innovations, and infrastructure investment, this paper outlines strategies to ensure that older adults in Ghana live with dignity, independence, and improved well-being.
