Abstract: This year's anniversary of the successful synthesis of isotactic polypropylene, achieved independently at two distant locations around the world, offers an opportunity to compile an overview of numerous researchers – both theoretical and applied chemists, physical chemists, and solid-state physicists – who, together with technologists, brought this significant polymeric material into existence and led to its current applications and modifications. The reader is guided through a fictional hall of fame, where key figures are presented who introduced polymers into the world of materials, with a particular focus on isotactic polypropylene. The selection of important individuals is, to some extent, influenced by the authors' subjective perspective.
