Abstract: The reaction of rhodanine vinyl bithiophene (BTR) with molecular dibromine (Br2) resulted in the formation of compound 1. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis revealed bromination of the terminal thiophenyl ring and the formation of a 1:1 CT “spoke” adduct between the rhodanine thiocarbonyl group and a neutral dibromine (Br2) molecule.
