Reimagining Theological Education for the Digital Generation: Addressing Emerging Challenges

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Theological education faces significant challenges in addressing the needs of digital natives, individuals raised in a technologically saturated environment. These challenges arise from the influence of digital technology on learning preferences, information processing, and community engagement.Digital natives prefer interactive and multimedia formats, making traditional methods less effective and necessitating more engaging pedagogical approaches.Their access to vast information can lead to overload and difficulty in identifying reliable sources, emphasizing the need for critical thinking development. The constant digital stimuli risk undermining sustained attention and reflective study, both crucial for deep theological inquiry. Moreover, balancing digital and physical communities is vital, as meaningful theological discussions often require personal interaction beyond virtual platforms. The integration of technology in learning raises ethical and theological concerns, alongside technical issues impacting educational experiences.Embracing these changes enables theological education to create an effective, inclusive, and comprehensive learning environment for the digital generation.
