Improving the Well-Being of Public Hospital Employee in Sichuan Province, China: The Role of Transformational Leadership
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Public hospitals in Sichuan Province are a vital pillar of the regional medical system. However, the long-term imbalance in the distribution of medical resources and the constantly rising medical demands have placed immense pressure on medical staff, leading to job burnout and mental health issues, which in turn affect the quality of medical services and patient safety. To address these challenges, evidence-based strategies relying on effective leadership and human resource management are urgently required. This study, with the background of public hospitals in China, explores the impact of transformational leadership on employee well-being. Through a systematic review of relevant literature, it sorts out the multi-dimensional concept development of employee well-being and focuses on analyzing the role of the four core elements of transformational leadership in enhancing the mental health of medical staff. The research points out that empirical study on the combination of transformational leadership and employee well-being in Chinese public hospitals are still scarce. This study helps enrich the leadership theory in high-pressure industries, providing practical guidance for hospital managers in reducing turnover rates; optimizing organizational performance, and also laying a theoretical foundation for future empirical research and the development of public health human resource strategies.
