Abstract: ABSTRACT The present study addresses the major concerns surrounding the complexity of synthetic dyes, particularly focusing on the ubiquitous indigo carmine (IC), which has been linked to various health ailments and environmental hazards. Through a meticulous investigation into the kinetics of IC oxidation, employing diverse oxidizing agents, this research aims to highlight the underlying reaction mechanisms and rate expressions. Notably, the study presents 30 schematic representations to elucidate the mechanistic process of IC oxidation, contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of this critical transformation. With scanty reports available on comprehensive IC oxidation, the present study significantly adds to the existing scientific knowledge, offering insights that could potentially mitigate the hazardous risks associated with IC. The study not only advances scientific understanding but also proposes sustainable strategies for addressing the environmental and health challenges posed by IC.
