Effect of Interactive Approach on Students Listening Skill in English Language in Maiduguri Metropolis, Borno State, Nigeria

Abstract: This study investigated the effect of an interactive approach on students' listening skill in English language in Maiduguri Metropolis, Borno State. A pre-test and posttest research design was adopted to evaluate the effect of the interactive approach on students' listening skill. The results of the t-test revealed a significant positive effect of the interactive approach on students' listening skill, with a mean score increase of 23.792 points (t = 19.008, df = 36, p = 0.0001). The data suggests that the interactive approach significantly improved students' listening skill, as measured by standardized listening comprehension tests. The findings of this study support the effectiveness of the interactive approach in enhancing students' listening skill in English language. The study recommended that teachers should employ a variety of interactive activities, such as pair work, group discussions, role-plays, simulations, and games, to cater to different learning styles and maintain student interest.
