Abstract: ABSTRACT During the development of urban agglomerations in the Henan section of the Yellow River Basin, issues like water scarcity and ecological degradation have increasingly impeded regional sustainable development. In this paper, the coupling coordination model and the spatial correlation model are used to study the comprehensive development level, coupling coordination relationship, temporal and spatial evolution law and spatial correlation of coupling coordination degree of the urbanization, water resources and ecological environment (UWE) system in nine cities in the Henan section of the Yellow River Basin. The results show that the comprehensive development level and coupling coordination degree of the UWE system in the Henan section of the Yellow River Basin and cities are generally on the rise. The type of coupling coordination degree of the whole region has changed from the reluctant coordination stage to the intermediate coordination stage. From the spatial distribution point of view, the coupling coordination degree of regional urban agglomerations presents the distribution characteristics of high in the middle and low around, and has a strong positive correlation. The coupling coordination degree also has obvious local spatial agglomeration characteristics, which are high–high agglomeration in the central and western regions and low–low agglomeration in the southwest region.
