Abstract: This research attempts to trace the journeys of Imam Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj in his pursuit and transmission of Hadith, focusing on the points of departure and conclusion of his travels. It aims to identify the cities he passed through during these journeys, highlight the most prominent scholars from whom he heard Hadith, document the teachers of Imam Muslim—whether those cited in his Sahih or outside of it—and present the most notable students who narrated from him. The study is structured into an introduction and three main sections: Introduction: A biographical overview of Imam Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj. Section One: The scholarly travels of Imam Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj. Section Two: The teachers of Imam Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj. Section Three: The students of Imam Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj. Conclusion: A summary of the key findings, followed by a list of sources and references. The research concludes that Imam Muslim’s early scholarly upbringing had a significant influence on his pursuit of Hadith from a young age. His first recorded audition took place in Nishapur in the year 218 AH, reflecting the common practice among Hadith scholars to collect the narrations of their local teachers before embarking on distant travels. At that time, he was approximately fourteen years old or possibly younger. His journey included the pilgrimage (Hajj) and encounters with scholars from Iraq and the Hijaz along his route from Nishapur to Mecca. He later traveled to Balkh, Basra, and Egypt. As for al-Sham (Greater Syria), scholarly opinions differ on whether Muslim ever entered the region. Throughout these travels, he regularly returned to his hometown of Nishapur, which was a major center of learning and Hadith scholarship. His residence in Nishapur did not prevent him from either hearing or transmitting Hadith.
