A Dynamic Model of Agricultural Ecosystems: Enhancing Biodiversity and Ecosystem Stability through the Introduction of Beneficial Insects and Habitat Optimization
Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: The widespread application of chemical fertilizers and broad-spectrum pesticides has also led to soil erosion, nutrient loss, and agricultural productivity has continued to decline, meeting the economic needs of single-handedly formed large fields. To reveal the dynamics of such agroecosystems, a set of coupled nonlinear differential equation systems were introduced, integrating the interactions of microorganisms in the soil substrate in the primary producers (the so-called primary consumers of the crops (another insect trainer ally of the grass pests) and the soil substrate. This model reflects the stability of local and landscape scales through embedding parameters, reflecting the competition for light, water, nutrients and the functional response of enslaved prey. Clear indications of marginal habitats provide further insight into how fragmented habitats can facilitate the re-establishment of native flora and fauna, thereby enhancing the ability of ecosystems to recover disturbed habitats that have already been broken. Through branch analysis and sensitivity testing, the framework identifies strategies to optimize biodiversity enrichment and natural enemy release rates to maximise crop yields while preserving ecosystem integrity. These achievements provide a solid quantitative foundation for the agricultural system, which balances productivity and long-term ecological health.
