Non Surgical and Surgical Periodontal Treatment of Intrabony Defects

Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: Periodontitis is a chronic, inflammatory disease in which the primary etiological agent is microbial dental plaque. Alveolar bone destruction accompanies this condition and in advanced cases, it may lead to tooth loss. An appropriate method is selected for periodontal pocket maintenance and bone regeneration according to the condition of the intrabony defect and the patient. Many surgical and nonsurgical treatment methods have been proposed for the treatment of intrabony periodontal defects. Although all of these approaches are effective in themselves, nonsurgical periodontal treatment and effective plaque control are very important in the treatment of intrabony defects. In this case report, the maintenance of three intrabony defects with surgical and nonsurgical periodontal treatment is presented. Clinical and radiographic improvement was observed in intrabony defects with surgical and nonsurgical treatments.
