Validation of the Emotional Assertiveness Inventory (EAI): A Mixed-Methods Psychometric Evaluation

Year: 2025
Type: preprint
Abstract: This study presents the first psychometric validation of the Emotional Assertiveness Inventory (EAI), a novel tool designed to measure individuals’ ability to express emotions authentically, clearly, and constructively. Using a mixed-methods design, the research combined exploratory factor analysis (KMO = 0.82; Bartlett’s p < 0.001) with qualitative video-based interviews. The results confirmed a robust four-factor structure (happiness, anger, sadness, fear) and strong internal consistency (Cronbach’s α = 0.89). Qualitative insights demonstrated increased emotional awareness and the practical utility of the EAI for leadership, team development, and emotional education. The findings support the EAI as a valid, reliable instrument for research and practice, with potential applications in organizational and interpersonal contexts.
