A Comparative Study on Service Quality Between Self Built Logisics Mode and Thirdparty Logistics Mode in Srm Mills

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: This study provides a comparative analysis of self-built logistics systems and third-party logistics (3PL), aiming to evaluate their respective strengths, limitations, and strategic implications for businesses.Self-built logistics refers to in-house management of the entire logistics process, offering greater control, customization, and direct oversight. In contrast, 3PL involves outsourcing logistics activities to specialized service providers, often resulting in improved scalability, cost efficiency, and access to advanced technology. The research examines critical factors including cost efficiency, operational flexibility, level of control, scalability, reliability, and responsiveness.Through a review of industry practices and case studies, the paper explores how different business sizes, market conditions, and operational priorities influence the choice between these models. The study also addresses challenges such as high capital investment in self-built systems, dependency risks in outsourcing, and the impact of technology integration on both models. The findings aim to offer actionable insights for managers and decision-makers, enabling them to align logistics strategies with corporate objectives, customer expectations, and long-term growth plans.By highlightingthe trade-offs involved, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of logistics management models and supports businesses in making informed, sustainable, and competitive logistics decisions.
