Abstract: We appreciate Dr Suto's 1 comments on our recently published article. 2 For his first concern that the lower rate of severe neutropenia observed in late chemotherapy cycles might be influenced by the relative dose intensity (RDI) of chemotherapy and the investigator's arbitrary decision, we would like to confirm that RDI was comparable in all four chemotherapy cycles between the treatment arms and investigators were blinded to patient's treatment assignment during the study. The majority of patients received the full intended dose of chemotherapy (75 mg/m 2 docetaxel and 600 mg/m 2 cyclophosphamide, RDI >90%) once every 3 weeks during all four chemotherapy cycles. The percentage of patients who required dose reduction (patients who received ≤90% of the full dose of docetaxel or cyclophosphamide) is shown in Table 1 below.A lower percentage of patients in the F-627 (efbemalenograstim alfa) arm received ≤90% RDI of docetaxel than those in the Neulasta (pegfilgrastim) arm (suggesting higher RDI in the F-627 arm), whereas the percentages for cyclophosphamide RDI were comparable for the two treatment arms. Therefore, RDI was unlikely to have contributed to the lower rate of severe neutropenia seen in the F-627 arm during the late chemotherapy cycle.a % of patients who received ≤90% of the full doses of chemotherapy drugs.
