Quality of life in DRESS syndrome: A prospective qualitative study of hospitalized patients

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) syndrome is an uncommon drug hypersensitivity reaction causing significant morbidity and mortality if not promptly diagnosed and treated.1 Standard management includes discontinuing the culprit drug, tapering doses of corticosteroids, and often, hospitalization. Hospitalization for any medical reason can adversely impact patients' mental health and relationships.2 However, the quality of life (QoL) among patients requiring acute care hospitalization specifically for DRESS has not been well-described.
