Big Data -Based Study on the Relationship and Risk Factors Between Construction Site Fires and Meteorological Conditions
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: In this study, we examined the correlations between weekly construction site fire counts and 14 weather variables using the 2010∼2023 public data from the Korea Fire Service and Korea Meteorological Administration. Seasonal analysis reveals that the number of fire events is higher in the winter (December∼March) and lower in the summer (July, August). Temperature and humidity correlate negatively (r = –0.60 to –0.53), whereas pressure correlates positively (r = 0.50). Multiple regression explains 89% of the fire variance (R2 = 0.89, p < 0.05) via average temperature, pressure, and precipitation. Four risk levels (Risk0∼3) based on quartiles reveal significant intergroup differences (p < 0.05).
