Abstract: The commentary discusses a recent report of metasurface-enhanced infrared photothermal (MEIP) microscopy, which simultaneously overcomes long-standing sensitivity and spatial resolution barriers in midinfrared spectroscopy, advancing detection sensitivity to the nanomolar level.
