Abstract: Although cisplatin is a commonly used chemotherapeutic agent that has been demonstrated to be effective against a range of solid tumors, its therapeutic efficiency is typically limited by its nephrotoxic side effects.Renal tubular damage, oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptotic cell death are known outcomes of cisplatin nephrotoxicity, however the exact processes underlying the toxicity are still unknown despite decades of investigation. With a focus on the molecular mechanisms underlying cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity, such as oxidative stress, inflammation, and mitochondrial dysfunction [1].The nephrotoxicity of cisplatin can be reduced and avoided in a number of ways. These include novel therapeutic approaches including stem cell therapy and reno protective medications, as well as pharmaceutical medicines that specifically target specific pathways.
