Abstract: Oral health is a crucial component of overall health, yet it is frequently compromised by the persistence of myths and misinformation. Many individuals mistakenly believe that conditions such as bleeding gums, halitosis, or tooth decay are either harmless or inevitable. These misconceptions contribute to poor oral hygiene practices, delayed professional care, and the progression of preventable diseases. This study employs a mixed-methods approach—combining a comprehensive literature review with original survey data—to explore the most prevalent myths about dental care. Key findings highlight the dangerous impact of misinformation, particularly from social media and non-expert sources. The study also clarifies evidence-based truths, such as the role of fluoride, the systemic implications of periodontal disease, and the importance of consistent preventive behaviors. Results indicate an urgent need for public health strategies that promote dental literacy and digital education. Dental professionals, educators, and health organizations must collaborate to correct false beliefs and empower patients to make informed decisions about their oral health.
