Abstract: Brake systems are essential in ensuring road safety and optimal vehicle performance. This study focuses on evaluating the braking efficiency and thermal response of single piston versus dual piston disc brake calipers using a custom-built table trainer. The experimental design was guided by the Input-Process-Output (IPO) model, which allowed for a structured evaluation of inputs (calipers, brake pads, brake fluid), processes (simulated braking cycles, force and heat measurement), and outputs (braking force, heat dissipation, and pedal feel).A total of 30 brake cycles were conducted per caliper type using standardized procedures.Force data was captured using a load cell sensor, and thermal profiles were monitored via infrared thermography.Pedal feel was evaluated through subjective feedback from trained users. The findings show that dual piston calipers offer more consistent braking force, superior heat dissipation, and improved pedal responsiveness compared to single piston calipers. The results of this study contribute valuable insights for vocational institutions, automotive training centers, and industry practitioners. Moreover, the table trainer developed in this research provides a cost-effective tool for brake system education and comparative analysis.
