Abstract: Background: Placental thickness (PT) is important in fetal growth and weight prognosis.Abnormal PT has been seen in many syndromes, including preeclampsia, fetal growth restriction, and infant death.Studies have shown the relationship between gestational weight and PT, which makes this issue critical in perinatal care. Our study is designed to explore the correlation between placental dimensions/thickness and the baby's birthweight, APGAR score at one minute, and pregnancy outcomes.Materials and methods: This descriptive study was directed at 60 singleton pregnant women.Placental thickness was recorded during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters screening. The results of these measurements were compared with the neonatal birth weight, number of pregnancies, APGAR, and maternal BMI.Results: The mean PT was 30.19 mm in the 18-21 weeks of pregnancy and increased to 41.91 mm in the 32-34 weeks. The average weight of neonates was 3247.50 gm, and the average APGAR score was 9.77.The placental weight was also 515.5 ± 65 gm, with a 383-600 gm range. Conclusion: The results showed a meaningful connection between the PT in the 2nd and 3rd trimester sonography and neonatal birth weight. We found no association between pregnancy number, APGAR at birth, or maternal PT.
