Abstract: The article considers and analyzes modern scientific concepts of the region as a socio-economic system.The key factors that significantly influence the functioning and development of the region as a socioeconomic system are examined.The prevailing trends in the development of the Russian national economy increase the importance of the regional factor while maintaining a unified economic space.Each region of the Russian Federation is a symbiosis of economic and social space, reflecting territorial conditions, ethnic, historical, and cultural characteristics, as well as the state of the social sphere and the level of economic development.The effectiveness of socio-economic development in Russia directly depends on the development of its regions.
