Six new species and records of frog-biting midges (Diptera: Corethrellidae) from Cuba and Colombia

Abstract: A survey of Corethrellidae from two countries in the Neotropical Region, Cuba and Colombia, was performed. Four new species are described from Cuba (Corethrella parallela Amaral & Pinho sp. nov., Corethrella doryphallica Amaral & Pinho sp. nov., Corethrella trivittata Amaral & Pinho sp. nov., and Corethrella coronata Amaral & Pinho sp. nov.), and two from Colombia (Corethrella compacta Amaral & Pinho sp. nov. and Corethrella obtusa Amaral & Pinho sp. nov.). New records from these countries also expand the known distribution of eight additional species.
