Abstract: ECR Spotlight is a series of interviews with early-career authors from a selection of papers published in Journal of Experimental Biology and aims to promote not only the diversity of early-career researchers (ECRs) working in experimental biology but also the huge variety of animals and physiological systems that are essential for the ‘comparative’ approach. Tâmie Duarte is an author on ‘ Sex shapes the systemic response to light-induced sleep disruption in Drosophila melanogaster’, published in JEB. Tâmie conducted the research described in this article while a PhD student in Cristiane Lenz Dalla Corte's lab at Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), Brazil. Tâmie is now a postdoctoral researcher in the lab of Dr Eduardo Rigon Zimmer at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil, investigating how metabolism, circadian rhythms and Alzheimer's disease impact behavior, biochemical and genetic pathways in D. melanogaster, alongside clinical studies focused on biomarker discovery in Alzheimer's disease.
