Abstract: Onchocerciasis is a parasitic disease caused by Onchocerca spp. and transmitted cyclically by a vector called Black fly. The disease significantly affects human health, productivity, and market value, thereby constituting a major constraint to food safety, security, and the economy. This questionnaire survey assessed the current knowledge, attitude, and perception of 200 farmers regarding black flies and Onchocerciasis in Ubalu community, Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State. The findings revealed more than 90% of the farmers in Ubalu community were aware of black flies and could recognize the signs and symptoms of Onchocerciasis. However, only 60% of the respondents completed the full dose of the Mectizan drug, while 40% relied on traditional medicine for treatment. Additionally, 80% of the farmers reported frequent visits to the river. Despite the high level of awareness about the disease, the poor attitude toward seeking medical attention needs improvement. Statistical analysis showed no significant difference (P > 0.05) in the respondents' Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice in the study area.
