Abstract: highlight how abortion restrictions fail to account for the complex reasons that participants in maternal-fetal research may require an abortion for preservation of maternal life and health and hinder researchers' abilities to provide safe, ethical participation in clinical trials. These restrictions limit comprehensive and full-spectrum reproductive care and add impediments to the forward progress of innovative therapies for maternal-fetal medicine.
