Abstract: space following collapse due to inadvertent intracarotid injection. These complications ultimately necessitated her euthanasia. Main limitations: Single case report. Conclusions: There is a paucity of literature describing the treatment of hepatic abscessation in horses.Surgical drainage is essential, and the technique is case-dependent.Partial rib resection and surgical drainage were attempted in this case.Laparoscopy is a useful tool to check for adherence to the body wall before being used to facilitate the debridement of the abscess.Clinicians should be aware of the potential complications, including communication with the thoracic cavity with subsequent development of a pneumothorax and/or pleuropneumonia.Ethical animal research: Not required: descriptive clinical report.
