Abstract: Rosa damascena, commonly known as Damask rose, is renowned for its valuable essential oil (EO), widely used in medicine, cosmetics, and perfumery. This study evaluates the potential of R. damascena as a high-value crop for essential oil production in Armenia. For the first time, essential oil was extracted from R. damascena grown at high altitude (1600 m above sea level) in the Kotayk region. The findings suggest that R. damascena can be a promising crop for Armenia due to its adaptability to local conditions and potential for high-quality EO production. Further advancements in cultivation practices and technology will enhance the country's position in the global market.
