An analysis of profile characteristics of farmers practicing High Density Planting System (HDPS) in cotton in Telangana

Abstract: The present study was conducted in Karimnagar, Siddipet and Nalgonda districts of Telangana state to analyse the profile characteristics of farmers practicing High Density Planting System in Cotton. A total of 120 respondents were selected randomly for the study. An ex-post facto research design was adopted for conducting the present study. From the results it was found that majority of respondents belonged to middle age category (54.17%), had primary school education (33.33%), with small farm size (41.67%), medium farming experience (42.50%), medium level of innovativeness (53.33%), medium extension contact (54.17%), medium risk taking ability (38.34%), medium information seeking behaviour (56.66), medium mass media exposure (47.50%), medium scientific orientation (47.50%) and low digital literacy (48.34%).
