Review of Jing Zhou’s Extensive Reading

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Jing Zhou's Extensive Reading (2024) is a concise introduction to Extensive Reading (ER) and presents a succinct summary of ER studies. The book is an excellent resource for undergraduate and graduate students as well as emergent researchers who wish to learn about ER.While numerous studies have reported the benefits of ER, many practitioners still do not have a full understanding of it.Therefore, the book, written in a reader-friendly style, is also a helpful guide for practitioners who wish to know more about ER and implement it in their practice. One of the book's strengths is the implications of how to implement ER in various contexts of second and foreign language (L2) teaching.Furthermore, 'Points to Ponder' at the end of each section enables readers to contemplate what they have just read, reflecting their different research and teaching circumstances.
