Abstract: Original researchhydroxide resorbs more quickly, 10 and their combination balances the resorption rate to more closely match the physiological root resorption.Metronidazole, added to the mix, acts as a bactericidal agent, enhancing the material's effectiveness.11 It is crucial to compare the cytotoxicity of the recently created obturating material with the existing standard material in use as the permanent tooth bud is developing right beneath the primary teeth. IntroductIonPulpectomy is essential for managing pulpal issues in primary teeth. 1 However, the procedure can be challenging due to the complicated and intricate nature of the primary root canal system.Even with thorough canal preparation and irrigation, microorganisms can remain trapped, leading to treatment failure.2,3 Therefore, the success of pulpectomy in primary teeth largely hinges on the choice of obturating material. An ideal obturating material for primary teeth should exhibit strong bactericidal properties and resorb at the same rate as the primary teeth, without causing harm to the succedaneous teeth or surrounding periapical tissues.4,5 Calcium hydroxide and iodoform paste, commonly available as Metapex, is regarded as a close-to-ideal obturating material for primary teeth due to its ability to resorb easily from periapical areas, lack of foreign body reaction, and strong bactericidal properties. However, a study by Kriplani et al. 6 highlighted that Metapex was not very effective against certain microorganisms found in infected deciduous root canals.Additionally, it was also observed that Metapex resorbs more rapidly than the natural physiological root resorption, leading to the formation of a "hollow tube effect," which may promote reinfection.7,8 To overcome these disadvantages, a novel obturating material was formulated using zinc oxide, calcium hydroxide, and metronidazole.Zinc oxide resorbs more slowly, 9 while calcium
