Abstract: The main drawbacks of MTA are discoloration, prolonged setting time, and difficulty in removing the material after setting.8 Biodentine was first introduced in 2009 due to its several advantages over MTA. 9 Biodentine™ (Septodont, Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, Cedex, France) is frequently used in endodontic therapies and restorative procedures to regenerate tissues of the pulp- IntroductIonRegenerative endodontic procedures have provided alternative treatment modalities to traditional treatment options for young permanent teeth.Stem cell therapy has been used in a variety of clinical procedures. 1 Pulp tissue harbors dental progenitor cells, opening the gateway to possible therapeutic modalities to preserve the dentin-pulp complex. 2 Vital pulp therapies and pulpotomy are the most commonly used therapeutic modalities to preserve maximum dental tissue in primary and young permanent teeth. In addition, dental materials that maintain or encourage the vitality of the pulp are known as biomimetic materials and are preferred in regenerative endodontics.3,4 Test materials used in the present study, such as mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and Biodentine, are considered biomimetic materials.5 MTA has unique stability and excellent sealing properties, along with antimicrobial effects and biocompatibility with native tissues.6 One study demonstrated proliferation and differentiation of murine homogeneous pulp cells into odontoblastlike cells after contact with MTA, which later demonstrated adhesion, propagation, and relocation of human mesenchymal stem cells (HMSC) or stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED).7 It has demonstrated better mineralization potential and minimal inflammation in pulp tissues during clinical use, making it the most preferred material during dental treatments.
