Abstract: Peer review is vital to the integrity of medical literature. However, as submission rates rise and reviewers face growing time constraints, a peer review crisis is emerging.Journals increasingly encounter delays with papers accepted with insufficient reviews or rejected due to reviewer shortages.1 Many early career professionals are eager to engage in academic publishing but lack structured opportunities to learn peer review skills.Recruiting novice reviewers and equipping them with training could relieve the editorial bottleneck and address this educational gap.
