Abstract: This paper investigates load flow (power-flow) analysis applied to a 33 kV medium-voltage distribution feeder. A typical feeder configuration, including line impedance, capacitance, and loading characteristics, was modeled using both the Gauss–Seidel and Newton–Raphson methods. Using MATLAB‑based simulations, performance metrics such as bus voltages, real/reactive power flows, line losses, and voltage regulation were computed under various loading scenarios (light, medium, and peak load). Results indicate that Newton–Raphson converges faster and with higher accuracy, especially under heavy loading. Voltage profiles remain within ±5 % of nominal for most scenarios, though voltage drop becomes significant at peak demand. The study provides detailed comparisons of computational performance and recommendations for practical deployment in distribution network planning and operations.
